The Community Safety Council of Canada (CSCC) is proud to recognize the adoption of Bubble Zone protections in Oakville, Ontario following a collaborative effort involving municipal policymakers, community leaders, faith-based organizations, and local stakeholders committed to strengthening public safety and protecting vulnerable community infrastructure.
This achievement reflects the culmination of extensive advocacy, education, consultation, and engagement led by the CSCC in partnership with a broad interfaith coalition and community partners.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Oakville’s Council and municipal leadership spearheaded by Mayor Rob Burton for their thoughtful consideration, responsible stewardship, and commitment to implementing balanced protections that safeguard access to places of worship, schools, community centres, and other vulnerable institutions while respecting the rights and freedoms of all citizens.
We also thank the many community members, faith leaders of Halton’s interfaith council, and local stakeholders whose dedication and support helped bring this initiative to fruition. Their collective efforts have established an important precedent that enhances safety, promotes community confidence, and helps ensure that all faith-based and community organizations can enjoy their freedom of religion free from intimidation, harassment, and disruption.
The CSCC remains committed to supporting communities across Canada in advancing practical, lawful, and effective measures that strengthen public safety while preserving the values of a free and democratic society.
